I should call myself ‘Unpopular Olicity Opinon’ LOL. Chances are I’ll anger a lot of Olicity fans.
Ok…there we have it folks . All the Olicity speculation about Felicity wanting to have a life is happening. Now all that’s left is to see how they actually resolve it.
Personally, it does make me wonder. If there is so much love for Raylicity or Barrylicity, is it possible for Olicity to be overshadowed?
My honest, answer is yes.
While the Olicity growth was organic in nature, it was fueled by the fans. Now if the same fans are jumping ship or ok with other ships happening, then that’s what the writers will do.
Coupled with the fact that Laurel is getting a full makeover and thus getting closer to Oliver in both of his persona’s, Lauriver is still very much in the game. I am an Olicity fan but I’ll admit that the current direction also makes Laurel a viable partner for Oliver considering Felicity is out to get a life. It aligns their interest together —- and who knows perhaps rekindle what was really lost between them, their friendship.
Olicity started as a great partnership which eventually turned into friendship and to whatever it is now. Who can say that the same thing is not possible with Lauriver as well.
I haven’t been keen on Laurel since the start of the show…granted it was poor writing that did it. But if the writers get their stuff together and Laurel ends up being a good character —- who knows what’s next in her cards.
I’m fine with Felicity stretching her own wings and sampling other fish in the sea…but who says that development wise, other female characters won’t have a shot at Oliver? Yeah, I know Oliver won’t be sleeping around this season…but in the long term —- specially if Felicity’s other relationships are too good and end up stretching beyond this season —- who knows if another character can end up winning Oliver’s affections and have him return it as well?
Yeah I know most fans are ‘you go girl! Felicity’ or ‘Ray will give Oliver a run for his money’ or ’ Ray or Barry treat Felicity better’
…but most of us seem to forget that Oliver has dealt with so much tragedy in his life. Sure he had his life handed to him in a silver platter and slept with probably a trillion women but he paid his dues and he’s still doing so.
After Tommy death, losing Sarah is going to be devastating.
So cut the guy some slack and stop cheering for his heartbreak. Yeah he will probably realize later on that he needs Felicity but I’m not really the type to rub salt on someone’s wounds so he’ll wake up and see what he has lost. I want good writing and development —- not the standard issue love triangle angst solution.
